Microsoft will host a Windows and Surface event on October 7 in San Francisco, the company announced Tuesday — its first major Windows event in over two years.
CEO Satya Nadella will appear alongside Windows and Surface chief Pavan Davuluri, with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang also scheduled to attend. The company described the event as a "conversation on how local AI will shape the next chapter of the PC."
Huang's presence strongly suggests that RTX Spark PCs — the initiative to bring Nvidia's AI-accelerated hardware to consumer Windows machines — will be a centerpiece. The Surface Laptop Ultra, Microsoft's premium notebook that has been the subject of ongoing leaks, could finally see official pricing and availability.
The last major Windows event was in May 2024, when Microsoft unveiled new Arm-based Copilot+ PCs and its renewed partnership with Qualcomm. Before that, the last major Windows event was in June 2021, when Windows 11 was announced.
Journalist Tom Warren of The Verge noted he is not expecting a Windows 12 announcement, but said Microsoft will likely focus on quality improvements to the operating system and what comes next in its AI integration strategy.
