Anker has announced a security camera that does not watch the inside of a house but the yard, driveway or front path beyond it — through the window. The Eufy Window Camera E10 mounts on the inside of an outward-facing window using a reusable adhesive kit that is meant to cut glare and reflections. Because the camera stays indoors it needs no weatherproofing, no ladder to install and cannot be reached by a thief.
It costs $79.99 and is available now through Anker's own store and Amazon. That is more than twice the $34.98 Wyze Window Cam, which arrived nearly a year ago and tops out at 1080p. The E10 resolves up to 2.5K — 2,688 x 1,520 at 15 frames per second — has a slightly wider field of view at 105 degrees horizontal and 57 degrees vertical, and can be tilted 25 degrees up or down by hand with a wheel on the back, which matters when the camera is in an upstairs window and the area you want is otherwise out of frame.
Onboard are colour night vision, on-device motion detection that claims to tell people, animals and vehicles apart, and a microphone that, from behind glass at distance, will mostly pick up louder noises. Footage records to a microSD card up to 256GB or to the cloud with an optional subscription. There is no battery: the power cable has to be routed and, ideally, hidden.
What is emerging is a small category: cameras that watch outside without hanging outside. They dodge three problems at once — weather, mounting height and theft — and pay for it with glass. Reflections, interior lights at night and fogged panes are the new failure modes, and the E10's 15 frames per second is a reminder that the sensor is tuned for still detail rather than fast movement.
