SoftBank Corp. and SoftBank Group Corp. announced the establishment of SB Neo, Inc., a new company that will operate a neocloud business in the United States, tapping into the group's massive 10-gigawatt-scale energy and AI infrastructure.
SB Neo will be established in Delaware in July 2026, with SoftBank Corp. holding 51% ownership and SoftBank Group Corp. holding 49%. It will operate as a consolidated subsidiary of SoftBank Corp.
Massive Scale
The neocloud services, expected to launch in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2028 (FY2027), will provide major US enterprises and hyperscalers with the computing resources needed for large-scale AI model training and inference. The company plans to expand its service capacity in phases, with ambitions to deploy AI infrastructure on a full 10-gigawatt scale.
To put that in perspective, 10 gigawatts is roughly equivalent to the output of 10 nuclear power plants — a scale that places SB Neo in direct competition with other massive neocloud players like CoreWeave, Crusoe, and Lambda.
Leveraging Japanese Expertise
In Japan, SoftBank Corp. has been operating a beta version of its GPU cloud service powered by "Infrinia AI Cloud OS," a specialized software stack for AI data centers, since May 2026. The expertise and operational insights gained from this Japanese initiative will be directly applied to SB Neo's US operations.
SoftBank Group Corp. is already advancing large-scale AI infrastructure projects in the United States and will support SB Neo's business by leveraging its infrastructure, personnel, and other resources.
Leadership Vision
Masayoshi Son, Chairman & CEO of SoftBank Group Corp., stated: "The SoftBank Group will work together to deploy world-class AI infrastructure and drive the AI revolution."
Junichi Miyakawa, President & CEO of SoftBank Corp., added: "With the strong demand for AI data centers in the United States and the SoftBank Group making steady progress toward securing 10 gigawatts of power, we are partnering with SoftBank Group Corp. to develop our neocloud business in the United States. We also plan to proceed with the construction of gigawatt-scale AI data centers in Japan as soon as preparations are in place."
The move signals SoftBank's aggressive bet on the AI infrastructure boom, positioning the Japanese tech giant as a major contender in the rapidly consolidating neocloud market.
