Nintendo announced Thursday that it will hold two Direct presentations back-to-back next week, starting with a Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct on September 8 at 10AM ET, followed by a regular Switch 2 games showcase on September 9 at the same time.
The Zelda Direct will run approximately 30 minutes and stream on Nintendo's YouTube channel and the Nintendo Today app. The timing coincides with leaked images of a special-edition 40th anniversary Zelda Switch 2 console and controller, and comes ahead of the expected Ocarina of Time remake and the live-action Zelda movie slated for theaters next year.
The following day's Direct will focus on Switch 2 games launching this winter and will run about 45 minutes, followed by a Nintendo Treehouse livestream with gameplay demonstrations. These showcases typically include previews of upcoming Nintendo Classics library additions.
The events come at a pivotal moment for Nintendo's new console. The Switch 2 recently saw a $50 price increase, making the hardware more expensive than at launch. The Directs will be closely watched for announcements that could help justify the higher price point to consumers who have been hesitant since the increase.
Both presentations are scheduled for 10AM ET / 7AM PT and will be available for live viewing on Nintendo's official channels.
