Matt Mullenweg has rebuilt Automattic's board with new members, weeks after the previous board tried and failed to oust him as CEO.
The new board includes author Hugh Howey (Silo series), Amy Chan, and IRL co-founders Henry Khatachryan and Krutal Desai. New advisers include KISSmetrics co-founder Hiten Shah.
The previous board voted to place Mullenweg on leave, but he leveraged his 84% voting share to retake control in 33 hours. He replaced the company's legal counsel, retaining Susman Godfrey LLP, raising questions about links to the ongoing WP Engine lawsuit.
Departures include founding CEO Toni Schneider (now Bluesky CEO), CFO Mark Davies, and CLO Andy Missan.
