Abbott and Google have announced a multi-year, 'first-of-its-kind' partnership that combines continuous glucose monitoring with AI-powered health coaching. Announced August 11, the deal pairs Abbott's Lingo continuous glucose monitor (CGM) with Google Health Coach, an AI system that turns the wearable's glucose data into tailored recommendations on nutrition, activity, sleep and recovery.
The companies say the goal is to help people understand how their daily habits — meals, workouts, sleep — fuel their bodies, giving a more holistic view of metabolic and women's health. Lingo, a consumer biosensor worn on the upper arm, tracks glucose in real time; Google Health Coach uses AI to turn that continuous stream of data into practical, personalized guidance.
Google Health GM Rishi Chandra said the partnership aims to make personal health guidance 'more proactive and tailored to your everyday life.' Full product details, feature integrations and availability are expected later this year. According to MedTech Dive, the companies also plan to launch a large study that could inform Google's AI health coaching and future features for Abbott's Lingo sensor.
The move targets a huge population: an estimated 115 million American adults live with prediabetes, and continuous glucose insights have become a mainstream wellness trend beyond diabetes management. Abbott has been expanding Lingo's consumer footprint — including work to bring glucose data into Google's Fitbit ecosystem — while Google continues to push AI into everyday health. It is the latest in a wave of partnerships bringing medical-grade biosensor data into consumer AI assistants.
