Google has ended the speculation: the Fitbit Edge is real, and it launches on October 12. A short teaser posted to social media promised to “Get an Edge on your health”, confirming a date that leaks had pointed to for days.

Retail assets obtained by Android Headlines show a tracker with a curved, bulbous display, offered in three colourways and sitting between the screenless Fitbit Air and the Pixel Watch 5. Reported details point to built-in GPS, ECG, a 1.34-inch screen, roughly a week of battery life, a metal chassis and iPhone support — a package aimed at people who want watch-grade health tracking without buying a full smartwatch.

The launch matters for two reasons. It is Google's first substantial new Fitbit hardware since it began folding the brand into its Pixel ecosystem, and it arrives in a market where buyers are re-examining how much a wearable is worth as sensor-packed trackers compete with cheaper bands.

Pricing, availability and whether the Edge preserves the Air's simplicity are expected to be settled at the launch itself. Google has so far confirmed only the date and the name.
