Amazon said on Tuesday that Prime Video will become the home of the Emmy Awards starting in 2027, in a six-year deal that marks the first time the television academy's flagship ceremony has had a single dedicated broadcaster. The Emmys have rotated among ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC over the past seven decades.

Prime Video will stream the show worldwide and free of charge in more than 240 countries and territories, and non-Amazon Prime subscribers will also be able to watch it on the platform. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The move reflects a broader migration of US awards shows to streaming as linear audiences shrink. Ratings for this year's 78th Primetime Emmy Awards on NBC were down nearly 10% year over year after a couple of years of growth, according to the AP, at 6.87 million viewers — still above the all-time low of 4.3 million in January 2024. The Oscars are set to move to YouTube in 2029, and Netflix has streamed the Screen Actors Guild Awards since 2024.
