ChatGPT is moving from conversation to commerce: the chatbot can now help users find available restaurant reservations through OpenTable, Resy and Yelp, OpenAI's release notes for August 10, 2026 show.
The feature arrives as OpenAI turns ChatGPT into a booking and shopping front door for major brands. In recent months, hotel groups including IHG, Accor and Radisson have launched apps inside ChatGPT that let travelers search, compare rates and book directly from the chat window, and Booking.com rolled out a ChatGPT trip-planning feature in early August.
For restaurants, the integration means a diner can ask for a highly rated brunch spot with weekend availability and move from recommendation to confirmed table without leaving the conversation. OpenAI has not detailed exactly how the reservation flow works across the three platforms, but the release notes describe real-time availability.
The move is the latest step in OpenAI's broader push to make ChatGPT a platform where agents — not apps — intermediate everyday tasks. For OpenTable, Resy and Yelp, it is a new distribution channel in the AI era; for diners, it may be the end of the tab-switching dinner-planning ritual.
