Audi has launched the A2 E-tron, a compact crossover that combines affordability with class-leading energy efficiency — a rare combination in the EV market. Starting at £32,200 (approximately $45,000), it is Audi's most affordable electric vehicle to date.
The A2 E-tron achieves a drag coefficient of just 0.24 — a first for Audi — through design elements including flush door handles, active air intakes, a fully enclosed underbody, and gap reducers around the wheel arches. With its most efficient drivetrain configuration, the car consumes just 12.8 kWh per 100 km and delivers up to 401 miles (645 km) of range on the European WLTP cycle.
Another first for Audi is bidirectional charging capability, enabling vehicle-to-load via a trunk outlet and vehicle-to-home power supply with a compatible DC wall box. The car is rear-wheel drive and built on a new dedicated EV platform.
However, the A2 E-tron will initially be available only in the European market, with no current plans for North American availability. The launch comes as Audi pushes to make EVs more accessible, competing in a segment increasingly populated by affordable electric crossovers from both European and Chinese manufacturers.
