Apple is rolling out Apple Intelligence features for HomeKit Secure Video alongside iOS 27 and tvOS 27. The AI-powered additions include text summaries of what cameras recorded, a video search feature, and the ability to stitch footage from multiple cameras into a single clip.
The catch: pricing that makes the previous HomeKit Secure Video paywall look modest by comparison. Apple's support page reveals a tiered structure where the $9.99/mo 2TB iCloud+ plan covers one camera, the $29.99/mo 6TB plan covers up to two cameras, and the $59.99/mo 12TB plan covers up to five cameras. There's no word on supporting more than five.
This represents a steep escalation from HomeKit Secure Video's original $1/mo entry point. While the base HomeKit Secure Video recording functionality remains included in lower iCloud+ tiers, the AI features — summaries, search, and multi-camera stitching — are exclusive to the higher tiers.
Reviewer Jennifer Pattison Tuohy, who tested the features in beta, called the capabilities "useful" but said they're "not good enough to justify that big a price jump." The pricing puts Apple's AI home security features at a premium even compared to dedicated home security subscriptions.
