Anthropic, the AI company behind the Claude family of models, is on track for what could become the largest initial public offering in history.
Investors in the company expect Anthropic to float at a valuation of $2 trillion or more in October 2026, the Financial Times reported, citing people familiar with the matter. That figure would eclipse SpaceX's $350 billion private valuation and dwarf every prior IPO on record.
The target has doubled in a matter of months. As recently as May, Anthropic's last formal funding round priced the company at $965 billion. But revenue growth has been extraordinary: the company's annualized run rate surpassed $47 billion, up from roughly $14 billion just three months earlier. Analysts and investors now expect Anthropic to reach $100–120 billion in annualized revenue by the end of 2026.
The company filed a confidential S-1 with the SEC earlier this year. Its $10 billion-plus revolving credit facility, announced in August, is designed to provide working capital flexibility during the transition to public markets.
Anthropic's rapid ascent reflects the enormous capital flowing into frontier AI. The company has raised nearly $100 billion in 2026 alone across multiple funding rounds, led by investors including Google, Amazon, and a consortium of sovereign wealth funds. Its Claude models are widely deployed across enterprise, government, and consumer applications.
If the $2 trillion target holds, Anthropic would briefly surpass the market capitalization of every publicly traded company except Apple and Nvidia at their recent peaks. The IPO would also validate the AI industry's claim that the technology represents a generational economic shift on par with the internet.
Market observers note that the valuation will ultimately depend on Anthropic's ability to sustain its growth trajectory and demonstrate a clear path to profitability. The company has not yet disclosed detailed profitability metrics, though it has said operating losses are narrowing as revenue scales.
The October timeline would make Anthropic's listing the marquee technology IPO of 2026, potentially overshadowing other anticipated debuts from AI companies seeking public capital.
